What is a Smart Link?
A smart link is a dynamic tracking URL that routes users to different offers, landings, or GEOs by rules without changing the link in the ad account. Rules live in the tracker or CPA network: country, device, time of day, cap, EPC, A/B rotation.
One link in a Meta or push campaign simplifies scaling: no need to clone ads per offer. When an offer fails, traffic can auto-failover.
Common rules
- GEO — RU to offer A, KZ to offer B.
- Device — iOS to app install, desktop to web signup.
- Weighted rotation — 70/30 between two landings in a split test.
- Cap-aware — switch to backup offer when daily cap is hit.
Risks
Opaque rotation complicates analytics if subs are not documented. Sudden money page changes without creative updates can trigger disapproval. In some networks “smart link” means a program-wide global link — clarify in the contract.
Vs. a standard campaign
A standard tracker campaign has a fixed flow (landing → offer). A smart link adds conditional logic before or inside the flow, often via a dedicated link type or rotator settings.
