What is Spotify Ads?
Spotify Ads is Spotify’s platform for audio and video ads on the free tier and select podcast placements. Formats: audio spot (15–30s), video takeover, display companion, podcast host-read (separate product). Reach spans millions of listeners in tier-1 GEOs with demographic and interest targeting.
Models: CPM, CPCL (cost per completed listen), sometimes fixed SMB packages. Less performance flexibility than Meta, but unique audio reach for brand and select app UA. In arbitrage Spotify is niche: app installs, subscriptions, events — with historical minimum budgets around $250+.
Targeting
- GEO, age, gender, platform (mobile/desktop/car).
- Interest playlists, genre context, real-time moments (Ad Studio).
- CRM custom audiences where available.
Tracking
Spotify Ad Analytics + click URL with UTM. External tracker on companion clicks or promo landings. Audio weak for direct response vs. display; often brand + promo codes. Programmatic audio also via The Trade Desk / DV360.
Practice
Compliance: no misleading health/finance in 30 seconds. Verticals: music apps, fitness subs, fintech awareness. Not a typical pop/push arbitrage substitute.
